Makerere University, in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, is implementing Africa Climate Collaborative. The initiative aims to shape a future where African knowledge, innovation, and leadership drive sustainable, climate-resilient development across the continent.
Makerere University is pleased to announce Fifty [50] Masters and Twelve [12] PhD Scholarship opportunities under the Africa Climate Collaborative for the Academic Year 2026/2027.
Eligibility: To be eligible to apply for the Africa Climate Collaborative Scholarship at Makerere University’s main campus, an applicant must belong to one of the following categories: Refugee or Internally Displaced Young People, Young Persons with disabilities, International students, Young people Living in a Refugee Host Community, Young people from Minority Tribes and Other Ugandan Youth. 70% of the Scholarships are for female applicants while 30% are for male.

Requirements for Applicants for Masters Degree Programmes
- The applicant must have applied for admission to Makerere University’s main campus for the academic year 2026/2027.
- The Applicant must have completed their undergraduate education in an African country.
- The Applicant should be experiencing financial hardships to pursue higher Education.
- The Applicant should not be a holder of any other scholarship.
- The Applicant should not be pursuing or have completed any Master’s degree studies.
- The applicant should have engaged in leadership responsibilities and/or community service.
- The Applicant should not be over 35 years at the application deadline with the exception of refugees and young people with disabilities who should not be over 40 years at the time of application.
- A refugee applicant MUST hold a refugee identity card or Family Attestation.
- The Applicant should have applied for any of these degree programs: MSc. in Soil Science and Agrology; MSc. in Crop Science; MSc. in Environment and Natural Resources Management; MSc. in Agricultural Engineering; M.A. in Economic Policy and Planning; MSc. Renewable Energy; MSc. Technology Innovation and Industry Development; MSc. in Livestock Development and Management and MSc. of Global Biosecurity and Infectious Diseases Management.
- The Applicant should have an interest in research, innovation and entrepreneurship in climate resilience and sustainability, with the themes and study sites prioritised by the Program.
- The Applicant should be committed to complete the degree programme in 2 years.
